Kingpin is a safe and simple way of securing emergency exits. Kingpin was developed in consultation with users, Fire Officers and the Fire Service Training College, which concluded that:

  •  - Simplicity is the key to speedy and safe exit in an emergency
  •  - Fire exit doors can be security risks when they are tampered with or used in non-emergencies
  •  - Some types of fire exit devices offer ineffective security, are potentially dangerous due to broken fragments which have the potential to contaminate food handling sites or are difficult to use.

Kingpin has been designed to address these problems and provides a simple but effective alternative to the traditional "break-glass" bolt on the one hand and complex electronic systems on the other.

Alarmed Kingpin followed, providing a cost-effective means of alarming fire exits whilst retaining the simplicity and ease of installation theme.

The latest development is that Kingpin is now CE marked - indicating compliance with the Construction Products Regulations. Kingpin is a fire safety product and therefore is must be independently assessed and tested before the CE Mark is awarded.

Kingpin can be used in most types of building; factories, warehouses, offices, universities, hospitals etc. Many well-known organisations such as Mars, Ikea, BAE Systems, Nestle use Kingpin and it is exported to a variety of markets in Europe, Africa and Asia.

Emexco Ltd was founded to manufacture and market Kingpin and continues enthusiastically to promote its unique benefits from its base in Wiltshire. Now that Kingpin is established as a favourite of those who value safety, security and simplicity, Emexco Ltd is researching other products that will provide new benefits in the fire safety and security arena.
